Worldwide internet ad market 'to expand'
Tuesday, 11 November 2008A new report has suggested that the global internet marketing sector will see further expansion in the near future in spite of the economic slowdown that is hampering spending in a number of areas.
Recent reports have suggested that the internet advertising industry is not as immune to the financial downturn as previously believed, but telecoms research company BuddeComm said that the sector will continue to grow despite this.
In its report, 2008 Global Broadband - M-Commerce, E-Commerce & E-Payments, the firm predicted that online advertising expansion will continue through downturn, albeit at a slower rate than previously.
Furthermore, a fifth of all advertising will take place on the web in certain regions, BuddeComm said.
The report also indicated that search marketing could become an increasingly important strategy for businesses as online search becomes more popular among global consumers.
A recent comScore report placed Google, Microsoft and Yahoo! at the top of its list of the most visited websites by UK internet users in September.
