Social media cited as most successful alt internet marketing platform
Monday, 17 November 2008A new survey has suggested that the majority of internet marketing professionals believe social media offers a good chance of advertising success.
Undertaken by private equity company Halyard Capital at the Ad:Tech New York conference, the poll showed that almost 70 per cent of marketers said social networking would be the most important alternative advertising platform in the next two years.
Just over six in ten said the same about mobile marketing, while 15 per cent cited online advertising networks and another 15 per cent predicted high growth for the online display ad sector.
"Services on mobile, social networking and other platforms that focus on user action and self-identification to generate contextualised advertisements and thereby convert users into active consumers will be the winners in the digital economy," said Robert Nolan Jr, managing partner at Halyard Capital.
In August, media agency Carat released a report predicting growth of 18.6 per cent for the UK internet marketing sector in 2009.
