Politics and finance pull in UK web browsers in September
Tuesday, 4 November 2008Websites linked to business, finance and politics were the biggest gainers during September in terms of unique internet visitors from the UK.
Research from comScore, released yesterday (November 3rd), show a 27 per cent increase in visitors to politics sites between August and September.
This category topped the rankings, ahead of business/finance - online trading, which experienced a 22 per cent boost.
The online analyst suggested that the US presidential elections and recent Wall Street turmoil were behind the increases, which also affected individual websites in the UK.
"Lloyds TSB and HBOS were among the strongest gaining sites
experiencing 15 per cent and 13 per cent increases respectively," comScore explained.
Other categories to experience visitor increases were education (18 per cent), genealogy (12 per cent) and government (12 per cent).
