Mobile site traffic measurement 'could boost internet marketing'
Tuesday, 30 September 2008Businesses that measure mobile traffic to their websites could see benefits for their mobile internet marketing campaigns, it has been claimed.
A survey by Omniture has shown that 71 per cent of companies do not track mobile traffic to their sites, with half admitting to not knowing how many unique users go to their sites from a mobile device.
The software provider explained that these businesses could be missing out on a significant opportunity to make conversions from these website visitors, particularly as JupiterResearch figures suggest that mobile web browsing adoption will reach 47 per cent by 2013.
Neil Weston of Omniture commented: "This intelligence from mobile traffic can be used to optimise website content for mobile users and fine tune mobile marketing efforts. These activities will help to keep visitors on the site longer, which can help to increase conversion rates."
According to comScore, mobile search usage rose by 30 per cent in the UK between June 2007 and 2008.
