Internet marketing 'holds many benefits for UK firms'
Wednesday, 5 November 2008British businesses are increasingly waking up to the benefits offered by internet marketing when it comes to attracting new customers.
This is according to comments made by New Media Age editor-in-chief Michael Nutley, who remarked that trends suggest there is room for further growth in spending on online advertising.
He explained that there is still a gap between the amount of time consumers spend online and the proportion of advertising budgets allocated to the web by businesses.
Mr Nutley also highlighted the property industry as an example of how businesses are upping spending on online marketing in a bid to bring in new custom.
"Earlier this year property became one of the top five spenders for interactive marketing - it edged out technology," he commented.
"The property sector [is] struggling and they're moving their money to online marketing because that's going to get them results," he added.
According to eMarketer, spending on internet marketing in the UK will reach more than £3.35 billion by the end of this year.
