Web-ready firms 'need optimisation'
Friday, 25 April 2008Newly web-ready businesses should take into account the fact that 90 per cent of all online purchases begin with the consumer using a search engine, an expert has commented.
Freelance search engine optimisation writer Derek Rogers, writing for the Internet Wonders Ezine, suggested that many new businesses fail to take search engines into account but cannot understand why they are not receiving the targeted traffic they want.
When a consumer is seeking goods or a service "there is a good chance that they will use a search engine to find it and when they do they are going to be drawn to the first few links on the page", he explained.
A recent study conducted by E-consultancy alongside digital media agency Neutralize revealed that 63 per cent of firms plan to increase their spending on paid search tactics during the next year.
Furthermore, it found 61 per cent intend to boost their spending on search engine optimisation.
