Travel firms 'prioritising SEO in budgets'
Monday, 3 November 2008Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the main priority for two-thirds of travel companies looking to increase their online budgets.
This is according to a new poll carried out by Whatsonwhen, which asked 88 travel firms about their future spending on online marketing.
It found that 80 per cent of respondents intend to increase overall spending on online marketing, while 50 per cent are set to up expenditure by between 11 and 50 per cent, reports TravelMole.
Half of those surveyed said they wanted to increase pay-per-click spending and four in ten suggested that they were prioritising the creation of unique content for their websites.
Commenting on the results, Joel Brandon Bravo of Whatsonwhen said: "The priority allocated to SEO and increasing destination content goes hand in hand because researching destinations has been shown to be the most popular use of Google in the travel category."
The sites that saw the greatest share of UK visits to all travel web properties in the last year included easyJet, Ryanair and Travelodge, according to figures recently published by Hitwise.
