SEO tips offered for new websites
Friday, 1 August 2008Businesses looking to get their new websites off to a flying start when it comes to search engine optimisation (SEO) have been offered advice on how to do so.
New sites often face challenges in the search engine ranking arena as they are up against more established rivals who have had a solid SEO strategy in place for years, SEO Book author Aaron Wall explained on the Search Engine Land blog.
However, small, newer websites can do much to carve out their own visible search engine space by focusing on less popular versions of common keywords and a high number of keyword modifiers, he said.
Mixing up on-page optimisation by using different keywords in titles and headings can also do much to boost SEO, while moving away from commercial search terms and buying traffic may help, Mr Wall stated.
"If you build high quality niche content and it does not rank as well as you would like it to then you need to actively market it," he commented.
"Mention it to a couple [of] popular bloggers in your space and ask them what they think of it."
According to Search Engine Watch's Mark Jackson, unique title tags, meta keyword tags and meta description tags can help to improve SEO for new websites.
