Keyword-rich URLs 'good for SEO'
Tuesday, 2 September 2008Businesses setting up a new website may want to consider the role their URLs can play in search engine optimisation campaigns, it has been advised.
According to an article on the Net4Now website, those who would prefer to achieve a high search engine ranking rather than enhance branding by using a generic term or company name should think about inserting keywords into their web addresses.
The website advised companies to consider using key terms that also happen to be the same as the name of certain products or services offered through the site.
"You could then use specific keyword software to see how popular your potential domain names are to customers using search engines," Net4Now stated.
Popular keyword tools and applications include Google Trends, Google Insight for Search and Wordtracker.
Google Insight for Search was launched relatively recently and allows users to examine search volume figures based on criteria such as geographical region and timeframe.
