Web video 'can aid online lead generation'
Wednesday, 5 November 2008Internet-based video can offer businesses a viable way of improving online lead generation in addition to other metrics across the buying cycle, it has been claimed.
Speaking to Online Media, Marketing and Advertising magazine, Matt Kaplan of online video platform provider PermissionTV explained that marketers should not just view video as a simple advertising medium.
He said that a number of publishers still expect to automatically attract new customers just by displaying a video ad and advised companies to conduct ongoing research into consumer expectations to properly take advantage of the medium.
"We recommend that marketers look at ways to leverage online video throughout the customer life cycle, from brand awareness and lead generation to conversion, service and support," Mr Kaplan remarked.
According to MarketingSherpa, it is also possible to use online video to boost search engine rankings by optimising clips through appropriate keyword-rich tags and text descriptions and by offering a transcript and video sitemap.
