Retail Email Index reaches new high
Monday, 17 November 2008Retail email marketing professionals in the US sent almost 2.5 promotional messages each on average during the week ending November 14th.
This is according to the latest Retail Email Index, which rose by four per cent to reach a new high of 248 for the year to date last week, the Retail Email Blog noted.
The index also increased by 12 per cent compared with a month ago, representing the biggest four-week rise for 2008.
According to the statistics, the proportion of email marketing messages referencing Christmas is continuing to grow as the crucial Black Friday shopping day approaches.
Emails sent last week were also found to refer to terms such as cashmere, coats, boots, Christmas cooking and parties and winter sports, the Retail Email Blog said.
Most small businesses based in the US view email marketing as an essential promotional tactic for the Christmas season, according to a recent Constant Contact study.
