Poll: Firms to maintain email marketing spending
Tuesday, 21 October 2008More than eight in ten marketers intend to increase or maintain spending on email marketing in the near future, a new survey has found.
Conducted by the eMetrics Marketing Optimisation Summit, the poll revealed that 83.6 per cent of firms are looking to spend the same or more on email marketing, while 77.2 per cent said the same for online advertising and 75.5 per cent for keyword search campaigns.
Overall, almost two-thirds of respondents said the economic downturn had not yet affected their marketing budgets, while nearly 90 per cent said they were looking to maintain or increase web analytics expenditure.
Commenting on the fact that the biggest proportion of marketers want to spend the same or more on email marketing, report author Jim Sterne said: "This may be due to the fact that email is relatively inexpensive compared to other channels or that many companies have found it demonstrably effective."
UK spending on email marketing platforms and services will reach an estimated £274 million by the end of 2008, according to E-consultancy.
