Email marketing 'should be combined with search, social media'
Thursday, 30 October 2008Businesses should concentrated on making their email marketing strategies work with search and social media for the highest impact, according to one expert.
Writing for the Email Insider blog, Jordan Ayan of SubscriberMail said that the three channels are the most important when it comes to integrating digital marketing campaigns.
He advised marketers to ensure the company has an adequate presence across all three campaigns and suggested combining them by using search to drive traffic to newsletter and email subscription pages.
In this vein, it is also a good idea to archive email newsletters on the web and optimise these for search engines, while getting involved in social media such as blogging and social bookmarking can help to promote this online content to others, Mr Ayan said.
"If you blog, it should interact with your email marketing. For example, it should contain a subscription link to your newsletter. If people like what you blog about they are likely to enjoy your newsletter," he added.
Aaron Kahlow, managing partner of BusinessOnLine, told BtoBonline.com earlier this year that it is vital measurement metrics for combined campaigns link to consumer behaviour.
