Email marketing, search cited as important for e-tailers
Tuesday, 7 October 2008Email marketing, site search and organic optimisation are among the most vital e-commerce technologies for online retailers in the US.
This is according to a new survey by SLI systems, which showed that almost nine in ten e-commerce businesses have implemented website search, search optimisation and email marketing.
A further 47 per cent of retailers intend to integrate social media into their online strategies, with 32 per cent set to look into the possibilities offered by online video.
Over half of respondents said they expected to see email marketing have a bigger effect on their future marketing operations, while 82 per cent cited website search and 93 per cent said the same for search optimisation.
"Adopting proven technologies that can guide shoppers to a merchant's site in the bustling world of e-commerce will enable retailers to deliver a better customer experience," commented SLI Systems chief executive Shaun Ryan.
A recent Tealeaf survey found that UK online retailers could be losing a collective £11.9 billion a year by failing to address the issue of abandoned shopping baskets resulting from website problems.
